About me..
Happy February! Whew, where did January go? I’ve been a little quiet over here in my world, but I’ve been busy laying out plans for 2017. I hope 2017 is treating everyone well.

I thought it was time for you all to get to know me a little bit more. I have no problems posting a million and one pictures of my girls on social media. I’m not one for selfies…and when you’re the one behind the camera or phone, it makes it hard. I’m sure you mommies can relate.

I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma born and raised. I absolutely love Tulsa, the small town feel in a city. I so miss the changes of the leaves, the hills, the occasional snow,  and of course our big family. It is harder and harder to leave every time I go home now for a visit, especially when the girls cry, then I secretly hide my tears, too. (brave mommy face) The picture below is of my favorite park, Woodward Park.
This is my favorite park in Tulsa, Woodward Park.
I have a younger brother and 2 older sisters. We like each other, for the most part. No, really we are very lucky to have each other as we go through life and raise our kids. Our father raised us to always be there for one another and the importance of family. I'm very thankful for each one of my siblings and my nieces and nephew. (below is our family trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama 2013)
In 2013, Gulf Shores, Alabama, our hole family went. There was about 30 of us. It was so fun. This is our family, minus my oldest sister and her family.
I am still friends with all my besties from high school. These girls are amazing, they keep me grounded and of course laughing, even if it is a random text as we are spread out from Oklahoma, Texas, and California. It’s so great that we can get together  and laugh about our antics 20 years ago and still make more memories together and lots of new laughs. Our laughs now, are a lot more about our aging bodies rather than that cute boy who you fell in front of at school!  We try and get together every few years for a girls trip. Having these relationships are so important to me. They really mean the world to me. (below are some of the girls last summer)
My besties from this past summer, some of them, anyways.
My parents live less than a mile away. Love this! Especially once we had Averee. I remember calling my mom in a panic about a week or so after she was born because this mysterious rash appeared, ends up she had baby acne!

Favorite breakfast is a family recipe of chocolate gravy. It has been passed down from my great grandmother, when my mom makes it for us, it always reminds me of home and our family get togethers.

I have a degree in Fashion Marketing. I dreamed of being a buyer for a high end department store. I worked a retail job all through college and was approached to work in cosmetics. 12 years later I was still applying lipstick!  Yes, I am still a cosmetic junkie! My favorites are still Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier, probably because I worked for those 2 companies last and well, I’m a creature of habit.

I’d listen to Garth Brooks all day and night! Seriously, I’m one of his biggest fans. I was able to see him in concert here in Houston a few summers ago...aaahmazing!
Favorite all time food Sushi-on a rare occasion, because it can get pricey!
I am deathly afraid of public restrooms. Seriously, before I walk in one I have to give myself a pep talk!  Always, fun when potty training! Whoa!  You will always find hand sanitzer, wet ones, and clorox wipes in my purse. I guess you could call me a bit of a “germaphob.”
I’ve been to Paris…a plus when studying fashion marketing.  I’d love to go back now that I”m older.

We have a boxer, Pearl. She is only 2, but a really good puppy and she pretty much gets away with a lot, because, well, have your seen their sweet faces? Those eyes! I think we’ll always have a boxer in our lives. Just great dogs around kiddos. (below is the result of Haddie Grace)
One night, this past summer, I was working, I heard Haddie Grace laughing so hard, I walk in to find this...poor Pearl!

I met Rob, my husband ,a few months after moving here on a Blind Date. We will be celebrating 10 years of  marriage, this year.

I have 2 precious little girls, Averee Joann (8)and Haddie Grace (4). See anything familiar? Aves is my spit fire, never afraid of a challenge, including challenging mommy, confident, very social. She is named after her nana, Joann, my sweet mama. Haddie Grace is my cuddler, a little more quiet. She honestly would rather sit and watch her sister at activities than join her. She is more of my girly girl, but don’t you worry, she has an opinion, too.
Really, Joann Grace Designs, was an “idea.” It is amazing to see how it has grown. I will be honest, I had no idea of how to work for myself. I have no problem diving in to work, but finding that balance of kids, laundry, and Pearl, always around me…..that’s taking a lot of getting used to. I”m not sure many of us, has the whole balance thing figured out. Wife, mom, friend, daughter, sister, work…juggling  it all can all be hard. I’ve had to learn to talk to myself a lot. I’m not crazy, I promise, but really accepting myself and being vulnerable is good. I will not ever be perfect at any one thing and if I mess up, I  need to do what I tell my girls. “Learn from it, move on, and do better next time.”  Even though most of the self talk is about parenting the girls. Ha!

There are times when I can feel a little down or wondering if I am pursuing the right avenue, but then I’ll get an email.  This one particular email still gives me chills. I had been following their journey and made their daughter a blanket. Sadly, she lost her battle to mitochondrial disease after a long fight. The mom reached out to me after her passing and told just how much she loved that blanket and how much it meant to her daughter and now her. I never really realized how this small gesture could have an impact on someone. I know I’m not changing the world with ground breaking scientific finds, but if I can provide someone in need comfort and bring a smile to someone’s face, I’ll take it.

I truly mean it when I say, I love creating art for you all. I love the simple art with all the cute nicknames to art that really tells a story. Thank you for allowing me to create and bring a little joy to you.

You may see a few more emails from me this year, do not worry, I will not make you want to unsubscribe. I will be sharing new products, order details for holiday deadlines, and of course, if we have any “specials.” Who doesn’t love a sale, right? With that being said, check out our newest art blanket from Stephanie Corfee, Fly Free. I'm also working on personalized sheets and finalizing those details.

Anyways, thanks for reading this and again allowing me to be a little part of your lives by creating a keepsake.

We love your blankets and my granddaughter does too. I will need another as my daughter is pregnant again and this time it’s a BOY. She’s due in June so will have to order after he’s born as a name isn’t shared until Little Man pops out!
Thanks for sharing about yourself!
